How the document allowance works
Costs one credit
- Sending an invoice to a client
- Sending a proposal
- Sending an agreement
- Sending something out for signature
- A recurring invoice raising itself and going out
Free, always
- Drafting anything, and editing it as often as you like
- Chasing an invoice you already sent
- Recording payments, expenses and bills
- Every report, and the export
- Re-sending a document to somebody who was left off
The meter counts documents, not emails, and resets on the 1st. Chasing is free on purpose: it is the feature that actually gets you paid, and charging for it would be selling you a worse outcome.
Prices are in US dollars, exclusive of any tax that applies where you are. Reach a limit and you cannot start anything new until the 1st or until you move up — everything already in your workspace keeps working: send, chase, take payment, print and export.
Nothing you make here is ever deleted for not paying
Stop paying and the workspace drops to the free plan. Every invoice, proposal, contract and signed PDF stays exactly where it is, and you can still open it, send it, chase it and record payment against it. What a plan limits is what you can *start* next. Export is a Pro feature — but your right to your own data is not conditional on a subscription, so if you are on Free and want the lot as files, write to us and we will send it. If you would rather it were gone than dormant, ask and we will delete it instead.
What changes between plans
Free is the invoicing half: send invoices, proposals and agreements, upload your own, get paid, and have the tax worked out. Tax means Indian GST worked out for you, your own sales-tax rate applied per line in the US, and a rate you set yourself anywhere else. Pro adds the other half — signing, the books, every report, chasing and the export — along with more volume and more people. Whatever you are on, nothing you have already made is ever locked or deleted, and your data is yours for the asking.

Enterprise
Talk to someone before you commit
If you have procurement, a security review, several entities to bill from, or a decade of history to bring across, none of that is answered by a pricing card. Tell us what you need and we will show you whether RunwayDue does it, including when it does not.
- A working session, not a slide deck
- One of your real invoices built in front of you, not a demo tenant
- A straight answer on what is missing
- Pricing that reflects your seat count and needs
Questions people actually ask
One credit per document that goes to a client: an invoice sent, a proposal sent, an agreement sent, or a document sent for signature. That is the whole list. Drafts are free, taking a payment is free, and reminders are free on the plans that have them — metering the thing that chases your money would be selling you a worse outcome. Two different things are going on, and it is worth keeping them apart: credits meter how many documents you send, while your plan decides which features you have at all. Running a report does not cost a credit; it is simply part of Pro.
You cannot send that kind of document again until the month rolls over or you move up a plan. Everything already sent carries on exactly as before: it still chases, and you can still record payments against it. Free is metered per kind — five invoices and three proposals or contracts a month — so running out of one does not stop the other. Monthly counts reset at midnight UTC on the 1st and do not roll over.
Because twelve times the monthly cap is a different promise from the monthly cap. Free is 5 invoices a month and 60 a year, and 3 proposals or contracts a month and 36 a year — so you cannot bank a quiet spring and send sixty in June, and you cannot sit at the monthly ceiling indefinitely. A business that bills every month is a business, and Pro is $15.
No. It is a plan, with no card and no expiry: 3 clients, 5 invoices a month, and 3 proposals or contracts a month. What it does not include is signing, the books, reports, reminders and export — those are Pro. If you start a Pro trial and let it lapse, you land on Free rather than on a paywall.
You drop to the free plan. Nothing is deleted and nothing you already made is hidden — every invoice, proposal, contract and signed PDF is still there, still openable, still sendable, and you can still record payment against it. What changes is what you can start next: no new expenses or bills, no reports, no new signature requests without paying for them, and the free document caps apply from then on.
No, not for Free and not for the trial. Asking for a card before you know whether something works is a way of making cancelling annoying.
That is the reason this exists. Nothing here punishes a quiet quarter, no invoice is ever removed for inactivity, and unused credits simply go unused — you are not billed for them and you are not penalised for a slow month.
Yes, properly. Your state against your client's decides CGST and SGST or IGST, the invoice tells you why in plain English, GSTINs are checksum-validated, and a tax invoice carries the per-slab summary and amount in words. Clients outside India are treated as an export of service, so no GST is added.
Yes, and here is exactly how far. In the United States you set your sales-tax rate per line and we apply it — we do not look it up by address, and we do not check where you have nexus or whether what you sell is taxable in your buyer's state. Those change by state and by quarter, and a plausible wrong answer is worse than none, because a wrong answer gets remitted. What we do handle: the document is titled Invoice rather than Tax Invoice, there is no place of supply and no CGST/SGST split, and sales tax you pay on a purchase stays part of the cost rather than becoming a credit, because in the US it is not recoverable. Ten more countries — the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, the UAE, Singapore, Japan, and Other — work generically: you invoice in your currency, set your own tax rate per line, get paid, and every report works. What you do not get there is built-in tax rules, validation of your tax number, or local filing formats. We have not written UK or EU VAT, Canadian GST/HST or Australian GST, and we would rather say so than approximate them.
No. Signing is included on Pro, and on Free it is $2 a document, or ₹180 in India — you pay for the one contract you need signed rather than for a month of everything else. Take five or more and it is $1.60 each; take fifteen or more and it is $1.50. It is the same feature at every quantity: the same audit trail, the same certificate of completion bound into the same PDF. You buy them in the app, on the Upgrade screen or at checkout, in whatever quantity you need. No card is charged there — no payment provider is connected yet, so we record the order and email you the same day to take payment, exactly as we do for a plan — and the documents land on your workspace as soon as it clears. They do not expire.
For ordinary commercial agreements, generally yes. What carries weight is the record: a named person, a private link to their email, their agreement to sign electronically, the time, and the network address — all bound into the finished PDF as a certificate of completion with the fingerprint of the original. To be precise about what it is not: this is an electronic signature, not a certificate-based digital signature from a licensed Certifying Authority, and not an Aadhaar eSign. Some instruments cannot be signed electronically at all; in India the app lists them before you send, and elsewhere which ones depends on your country and on the document. None of this is legal advice.
Both halves, on Pro. Vendors, bills you will pay later, expenses you already paid, receipts on either, and a chart of accounts. Out of that come a profit and loss on an accrual or a cash basis, cash flow, a balance sheet, aged receivables and payables, a tax summary, and income by client. What it is not is a full general ledger with hand-written journals, and the balance sheet says so on the page. Free is the invoicing half only — it will send an invoice and record the payment, but the cost side and the reports are Pro, because a profit and loss with half the costs missing is worse than no profit and loss at all.
The export — clients, invoices, documents and the books as files — is a Pro feature. Your right to your own data is not, and we do not treat it as one: if you are on Free, or you have stopped paying, write to us and we will send you the lot. Ask us to delete it instead and we will do that. What we will not do is hold your records hostage to a subscription — nothing is ever removed for not paying.
No, and not by accident. Payroll is jurisdiction-specific in a way nothing else here is, and getting it slightly wrong costs somebody their filing. We would rather do the rest properly.
Any of them. Any document can be in any currency, and every report converts to your base currency using the rate saved on that document when you issued it, so reporting does not drift when exchange rates move.
Yes, on any plan that has more than one person, and they do not take up one of your seats. The viewer role reads everything and can run an export, and cannot change a thing — so the one login you are most likely to need is the one you are not charged for. Give a second person the viewer role and that one counts normally; the free place is for your accountant, not for a way around the seat count.
Pro includes 2 and Business includes 10. Anyone beyond that is $6 a month each, on either billing cycle, and you choose how many when you pick the plan. A read-only accountant login is free on top and never counts. Two things worth knowing: the seat price does not get the annual discount, because it is not discounted — quoting it as though it were would be inventing a saving. And nobody is ever removed for a seat you stop paying for. If you drop a plan or a seat, everyone in the workspace stays exactly where they are; what changes is that you cannot invite the next person until there is room.
Pick a plan in the app and it records the order; because no payment provider is connected yet, we then take payment and move you across by hand, usually the same day. Moving down or cancelling drops you to Free at the end of the period you have paid for, and takes nothing away: every invoice, proposal, contract and signed document stays exactly where it is, still openable and still sendable. The self-service export is part of the paid plans, so that stops — but ask us on any plan and we will send you everything as files.
